Every cat in our program goes on the DNA panel: HCM, PKD, SMA and PK-Def. Each result is posted below as it comes back from the lab, with the date and the lab's name, and a few are still being added. Ask me about any cat and I'll send the lab's PDF, or tell you exactly where her heart screening stands.

What we test for
- HCM — Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the heart disease Maine Coons are most prone to. DNA panel for the known mutations; echocardiogram reports on request.
- PKD1 — Polycystic kidney disease, genetic
- SMA — Spinal muscular atrophy, genetic
- PK-Def — Pyruvate kinase deficiency, genetic
- Blood type, FIV/FeLV annually
What kittens go home with
- Two full vaccine rounds
- Dewormed, microchipped, sterilized
- Vet exam paperwork from the week of pickup
- Written contract + health guarantee
- Lifetime return policy, kittens are always welcome back here.
